Join the Friends of Friedrichshafen as we honor the many years of volunteer service given by Wayne & Joyce Oberlander to our Youth Exchange.
The Friends of Friedrichshafen is a private, non-profit organization located in Peoria, Illinois. We assist the city of Peoria's Sister City Commission in continuing, promoting and expanding Peoria's first sister city relationship with Friedrichshafen, Germany (pictured above and throughout this site). Find out how we go about meeting this goal, making wonderful lifelong friends, and having a lot of fun along the way!
The sister city relationship between Peoria, Illinois, and Friedrichshafen, Germany, was established in 1976. The Friends of Friedrichshafen assists in fostering a diversity of exchanges including cultural exchanges, teen exchanges, educational trips and internships, and adult visits and exchanges. When visitors from Friedrichshafen visit Peoria, we help plan events during their stay. We also sponsor adult trips to Friedrichshafen to offer members the opportunity to meet individuals and learn about the German culture.
While the sister city relationship is between the city of Peoria and the town of Friedrichshafen, membership in the Friends of Friedrichshafen is open to anyone interested in supporting the sister city relationship.
